John Norman Mactaggart and his brother Daniel Campbell Mactaggart, were the third generation of solicitors in Campbeltown.
John Norman commanded the 1st Argyll Highland Rifle Volunteers and served for 20 years. John Norman’s eldest son, Charles Mactaggart was awarded the M.C for bravery at Cambrai. He had enlisted in the 8th Battalion of Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders when he was only 17 years old.
