Allanna Brough, Archive, People of the Picture House

An original shareholder, Agnes Galbraith Greenlees bought 50 shares in 1912.

Agnes Galbraith Wallace Greenlees was the Sister in Law of William Greenlees, another original shareholder in the Picture House. Her four boys were also original shareholders, 200 shares were bought in their names.

Her husband, James, and his brother William were co-owners of Longrow Distillery. After selling the Distillery, James and Agnes moved to Uddingston where James had other business interests as a Distiller and wholesale Whisky Merchant. He was also part of Bennett’s & Co, Glasgow. Agnes and James lived in a house called “Davaar”, names after the island at Campbeltown.

Her son, Robert Wallace Greenlees was awarded the MBE and became Provost of Campbeltown.
